INTRODUCTION

Saints imagine our minds as the gateway to knowing and loving God like never before but because of sin the GREAT COMPUTER that our loving Father created in us called our minds is no longing functioning the way it was oringinally programmed! Our minds were intended to function with thoughts ofLOVING GOD, WORSHIPPING GOD and to GLORIFYING GOD! Due to the downfall of sin our minds has been PROGRAMMED according to this world of sin to think in sin, to imagine in sin and to dream in sin but PPPRRAAAIIISSSEEEE JESUS, God has always got an answer to all of our problems and that IS THE MIND OF CHRIST! In this Bible study you will learn why many CHRISTIANS live defeated Christian lives and you will learn how to RENEW YOUR MIND as a NEW CREATURE IN CHRIST!!

WHY DEFEATED CHRISTIAN LIVES?

Have you ever known people who accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior but still spoke, thought, and behaved the same way they did before they got saved? This scenario is not uncommon among Believers. Many times, certain behaviors are attributed to a person needing a spirit cast out of him, when, in reality, the issue is that he has not renewed his mind in a particular area. Mind renewal is the key to living a successful life as a Christian, as well as overcoming the mindsets that keep us bound in ungodly lifestyles.
As a pastor and counselor, I have encountered numerous people who struggle with addictions and all sorts of habits they just cannot seem to break. They are in torment because they know these things are wrong according to the Word of God, but they just can’t seem to find the brakes to stop. To them, change is an unattainable goal. They have to change their thinking to line up with what God says about the situation. Without this vital step in the process of Christian development, it is impossible to see lasting change.
says something so powerful that we all need to understand and apply to our lives on a daily basis, “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” First, we must understand what it means to walk in the Spirit. When we walk in the Spirit, we have a mindset that lines up with God’s Word. It is thinking that is sound and subjected to God’s way of doing things. Walking in the flesh is the exact opposite.

RENEWED MIND

To walk in the flesh means to have a way of thinking that goes against the Word of God. For example, a “fleshy”mindset is one that believes having sex outside the context of marriage is okay. It is a wrong way of thinking. Walking in the Spirit in this area involves thinking that is in line with the Word, which says marriage is the only framework inside which sexual activity is acceptable. It is critical to understand that the mind is the control center of our lives. Our dominant thought patterns and beliefs will inform and shape our behavior. Unfortunately, before coming to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, most of us picked up a lot of wrong thinking from our environment, whether it was from family, friends, television, or some other source. But when we become born again, we must enter into the most important part of our walk with God—renewing our minds. Romans 12:1, 2 says we are not to be conformed to the world, but we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that we can demonstrate and prove the perfect will of God. Isn’t it exciting to know that renewing your mind has the power to absolutely transform your entire life? You can break any habit or behavior by making a quality decision to renew your mind daily through the meditation and study of God’s Word.
•Renewing the mind is not a one-time event, but it is an ongoing process that must continue for the rest of our lives. We can renew our minds to the point where even our subconscious thoughts and automatic responses become aligned with the Word of God. When mind renewal takes place on this subconscious level, we are actually renewing the spirit of our minds (Ephesians 4:23). This is the depth of transformation every Believer should aspire to achieve because it is the pathway to genuinely changing our behavior.
•You may be thinking your situation is so bad that you simply cannot change. I want to give you some good news today—you can! First, ask God to give you the desire to want to change. That’s right, you have to want to want change first. Then, make a commitment to the process. Find a scripture in the Bible that deals with the area you are dealing with and make it a priority to meditate on that scripture until it is more real to you than what you are going through. When you begin to think, speak, eat, and breathe the Word of God, you will begin to live it. When you find your decisions aligning with God’s Word, you will know renewing your mind is paying off!

WHY RENEW YOUR MIND?

2 Cor 10:4-5

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds ;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;.
We are involved in warfare; it is a war for our souls or our minds, if we are defeated in our minds then we will live mediocre defeated Christian lives. We don’t need to fight with carnal (fleshly) weapons. God didn’t leave us to fight without weapons; our weapons are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. There are strongholds that we can take in this battle but let us look at where they are so we can be better equipped to take them.1. Casting down imaginations, where are imaginations, they are in the mind.

2. Every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, where does knowledge exist? They are in the mind.
3. Bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ, where are thoughts? they are in the mind.
You see all the battles that we have to fight against this enemy begin in the mind. God has given us his weapons to defeat this enemy, it is the word of God, the word of God and the renewing of the mind is the only thing that can cause us to cast down imaginations, cast down the things that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God and take captive our thoughts into the obedience of Christ.

CONCLUSION

Beloved of God IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to grow in your spiritual walk and to conformed into the image of JESUS CHRIST if we do not RENEW YOUR MINDS! and it is IMPOSSIBLE TO RENEW YOUR MIND without a daily dose of READING THE WORD, MEDITATING ON THE WORD and PROCLAIMING THE WORD in your daily life! I have listed here just 3 simple things here that will help you with the RENEWING OF YOUR MIND but NOW it is up to you to pray about what you have learned here and use it to GLORIFY GOD in your daily LIFE!!!
1. Find out what the word says about you. Oftentimes we have a different set of opinions about ourselves than the word has, we need to find out how God sees us and begin to see ourselves as God sees us.

2. Meditate on what the word says about you, to meditate means to mutter, as you go about your daily business mutter to yourself the things that God says about you, begin to believe them and act like they are true.
3. Speak what the word says about you. When you are faced with something like temptations or trials or just negative thoughts go back and say to the temptation or trial “this is what the word says, this is who I am, this is who God created me to be and I am not listening to you anymore, now I only listen to the word of God.”
Renewing your mind is not easy at the start. But as you continue it becomes a lifestyle. If you let it slip you will have to go back and start again because you will start to get all your negative images back and then you will need to restart the process.
GRAP A VERSE OF THE WORD OF GOD AND PROPHETISE IT OVER YOUR LIFE. CLAIM ALL OF THE PROMISES OF GOD AND CONTINUE TO FEED ON THE FEAST OF GODS WORD! PUT LESS OF THE WORLD IMAGES AND WAYS INTO THAT BEAUTIFUL COMPUTER CALLED YOUR MIND AND REPROGRAM IT THE WAY IT WAS MADE TO FUNCTION BECAUSE THE BIBLE STATES THAT YOU DO HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST!!!
